Bythos.
BYTHOS tackles the challenge of waste disposal from fish processing and catering by transforming it into valuable resources through innovative recycling and reuse processes. This project focuses on extracting bioactive molecules (BAMs) from fish waste, which hold immense potential for developing antibacterial, antimicrobial, and even antitumor products for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and cosmetic industries. The project doesn’t stop there.
BYTHOS takes the remaining fish waste and transforms it into eco-innovative fish feed. This not only reduces waste but also lessens the dependence of the Sicilian and Maltese aquaculture sector on foreign fish feed suppliers, promoting a more self-sufficient and sustainable industry.
